Several website visitors have asked to see more photos. After a little difficulty, we have them up. (Remember this page will load slower because of the photos.) Point your browser to: http://www.rockeddy.com/Pictures.htm
If you have a favorite photo of Rock Eddy Bluff please send it to us. When time and temperament allow, we'll try to put it up in the website also. If it is already digital, just send it to us at: corey@rockeddy.com Otherwise send it to us at 10245 Maries Road 511, Dixon, MO 65459
Spring is a
glorious time here in the hills and on the river. The eagles
nest in the giant tree below the bluff. The herons reoccupy their rookery
on the island beneath the Bluffhouse. The soaring turkey vultures return
from winter homes in the south. The hills begin a panorama of changing
hue, beginning with pale green. The land blooms with wildflowers.
Mushrooms are se
creted
on the slopes of hills. We love it!
If you are considering a spring
escape, better plan it now. Two reasons: First,
weekends in the cottages and cabin are filling (you may want to try to find some
weekdays. Tell yourself they are for your soul.) Second,
we are going to be on vacation beginning the first week in March. So, you
can't reach us for reservations during most of March (that's usually when an
overwhelming yearning for spring occurs.) We'll have house sitters but we
can't put too much work on them. So, call pretty soon!
Innocents
abroad. We will be staying a week
with our friend Philippe in southern France. Philippe operates a "Gite"
in the mountains of southern France and visited us last February. His
place is in an area know at the "Cevenne" where hikers follow mountain
trails, staying in gites each night. He is a great fellow and extremely
helpful.
In
fact, if you plan to go to France, a trip to L'Etoile (the Star) will help you
find the fundamental France, away from the well-worn tourist paths. Lucky
for us, he has a great and helpful website http://www.etoile.fr/
For the remainder of time our idea is to find rural places,
discover a roof and a bed in small towns, learn to smile in French, spend a few
days in Paris, then return to Missouri in time for spring to unfold.
Remodeling. Cottage guest will notice some work completed which occupied the cold January weather. We've redone baths in both cottages and carpeted the greatroom at Turkey Ridge Cottage. Hope you like our work!
Dog policies. We love dogs. There are three who live here. What's more, we love to travel with our dog, "Irene," so we know how difficult it is to find somewhere that will accommodate dogs. We do, but after a few "experiences" we've formulated a couple of hard and fast rules: One: no dogs on the furniture or beds. Two: Dogs may not be left by themselves in the cottages (the exception is if the dog is in a kennel or crate.) Beyond that, we'd love to meet your dog!
