We are home
after shuffling down the Texas Gulf Coast with our RV.  We lived next to the waves mostly, alone, surf pounding, gulls crying.  We say that we had sand in every orifice, but we loved  it.  Now back in the hills, we prepare to see winter dissolve  into spring, the encompassing green of the timber gradually reappear, and  hear the joyful noises of woodland creatures.  You are invited!       Check Availability

National Geographic Adventure Magazine says in their December/January edition, citing Rock Eddy Bluff Farm:

"A perfect antidote to work or holiday (or any) stress: Pack up a loved one and a pooch and head for a log cabin on a pet-friendly farm in the Ozarks.  Rock Eddy is a true retreat, 12 miles from the nearest small town (Dixon) on 150 acres -- '300 if you ironed it out,' says owner Tom Corey -- in the Ozark Hills of south-central Missouri ($100 for one of the four cabins and cottages: rockeddy.com). Pump your water.  Spark up a kerosene lamp.  Settle in with a book by a fire. Do it again tomorrow.

New Hiking Trail at Clifty Creek  The Department of Conservation has fashioned a new trail in Clifty Hollow.  A favorite of our  guests, Clifty Creek is within our view from the Bluff top.  The new  trail opens up some interesting new terrain to explore -- clear pools beneath limestone cliffs, small glades, towering sycamores.  The route departs a small parking area and ends at Clifty Creek Natural Bridge, a  remarkable geologic formation.  We know you will enjoy it.  Bring  sturdy shoes or boots.

“You should gather all the writings from the privy journals and put them in a book.  It was funny, lonely, and sometimes sad, reading the musings of fellow folks.  Mostly it just made me want to be sitt'n in the privy.”  So wrote one of our guests at Line Camp Cabin in the trees.
Well, we have done just that.   We have included inspiring quotes from the privy book in a new publication.  Read about the new book below.   Of course, you will find many other items of interest in those pages as well.  And, if you don't know what a a privy journal is, just imagine what you might do in the privy with a little time on your hands.

A new book from Rock Eddy Bluff Farm.  Tom, one of the two principals at REB  is well known as a firewood cutter, one man maintenance department, and semi-dependable concierge person.   Many do not know,  however, that he writes short vignettes about local history, people and places, as well as his musings on various gentle topics.   These pieces, most  of which were written for a historical society publication,  have now been bound into a 268-page book.  "A  High Sunny Place" is the book title. Most pages were composed on the top of the bluff at Rock Eddy.  Click here to preview or order the book.

Taking sustenance during your stay.  We are often asked questions about eating at Rock Eddy Bluff Farm. Our answer: Depends on where you are staying.  In the cabins and cottage you find complete cooking facilities with all utensils and food cooling. If you want to cook outdoors, you’ll find an a fire pit with grate ( we provide wood) or a charcoal cooker (bring charcoal).  We provide only a basic breakfast so you won’t go hungry in the morning. Nearest grocery is 12 miles, so you may want to bring all food with you.  In the Treehouse Suite (our B&B accommodation) we serve a big country Breakfast each morning.  There, you’ll need to tell us your food preferences  and restrictions, etc.  No matter which accommodation you chose, you may wish to experience a nearby country eatery.  Click here to see more about local restaurants.

Do I need a fishing license? is a common question we  hear.  The answer, of course, is yes, since the Gasconade River is a pubic,  navigable stream.  The rules say that a general permit is not needed by: "any Missouri resident 65 years of age or older, and any person (resident or nonresident) 15 years of age or younger. Fishing licenses can be purchased locally or on-line.   The complete rules, along with fishing tips and other good info and on-line permits can  be accessed on the web at the Conservation Department site.   Here is a good page to start with:   http://www.mdc.mo.gov/fish/

All our best from the Bluff,
Kathy and Tom Corey
